Vine (indeterminate) tomatoes produce small amounts over a long period and into cool weather
Bush (determinate) tomatoes produce large amounts over a short period making them ideal for preserves
Semi-bush – require some support to remain from sprawling over the ground, but grow less than 1m

Black or purple tomatoes have higher levels of anthocyanins than red or yellow – they’re good for bodies and brains

1. Plant out after all risk of frost has passed (yeah, I know, who knows.)
2. Plant them so the stem is buried deeply, they’ll produce roots up the stem and be able to access more water/nutrient and be a strong grower.
3. Avoid J-rooting your seedlings
4. Bush tomatoes 1 metre apart, vine tomatoes planted 30-50cm.
5. Bush tomatoes require no pruning
6. Vine tomatoes should be pruned to 1 or 2 leaders and pinching out the lateral growth
7. Avoid overhead watering as it increases the risk of fungal disease and sun scald.
8. Avoid overwatering & other things that stress tomatoes
9. A brief rave with pics of cross-pollination in tomatoes
